You built something good. People ask for a call. You get on, you explain it, and they say they'll think about it.
Primal teaches you a way to sell that's just a conversation. It never digs into anyone's pain.
You stay yourself. Your own buyers show you what to say. And you get me, not just the software.
One founder put it better than I can: “I know what the product does. I don't know how to sell it.”
You're paying for leads. Ads, an agency, referrals.
The calls happen.
You know your product better than anyone alive, so you explain it. All of it.
They nod. They say it sounds great.
Then: “Let me think about it.”
And you never hear from them again.
Do that enough times and you start believing what most founders end up believing.
Some people are just good at sales. I'm not one of them.
That belief is wrong.
You read the books. Watched the closers on YouTube. Maybe bought a script, or hired someone to sell for you.
Almost all of it runs on the same idea. Find the buyer's pain, dig into it, and make it hurt until they buy. There's an old line for it: “When they cry, they buy.”
You hated doing that. Of course you did. You hate it when it's done to you.
So do your buyers, and they can tell. Research on service work finds that customers can tell a put-on feeling from a real one, and that faking it wears out the person doing it (Grandey, 2003; Hennig-Thurau and colleagues, 2006).
It wasn't you.
It was the method.
It starts with what's already working for them, and where they want to go. Then it's a conversation about how to get there. Nobody gets pushed, and nobody feels sold.
You don't need a sales personality.
You don't need confidence.
You need to be yourself, and know what to say next.
And the words don't come from me, or from somebody else's script. They come from your buyers.
There's a reason you can't find them on your own. In a Stanford study, people tapped out the rhythm of famous songs and guessed listeners would name half of them. Listeners named 3 out of 120 (Newton, 1990). Once you know the tune, you can't hear the taps the way a stranger does.
You know your product too well to hear it the way your buyer does.
So Primal listens for you. The moment a buyer leaned in. The question that opened them up. Then it hands it back to you, in words you'd actually say.
“I spent 25 years learning why people say yes. Primal is what I do with it.”
For twenty-five years I've worked in persuasion and direct response, where every word gets measured and the only opinion that counts is whether people buy.
For fourteen of those years I ran a company that taught advanced persuasion and influence to professionals, salespeople included. It came with a backstage pass most people would die for. People paid the best in the world a lot of money to learn from them. I spent ten hours a day with them. After a while, our customers knew I was the guy behind the curtain.
Before I built Primal, I sold for one of the fastest growing agencies in the US. I had the highest closing rate on the floor. I was handed a script that wasn't mine and that I wasn't free to rewrite, so I slipped a few sentences of my own inside it. When I couldn't change the words, I changed how I said them. The people reviewing my calls never saw what I was doing. They just saw the closes.
That's the problem Primal exists to solve. What makes a call work is usually invisible, even to the person holding the recording. So watching a great closer teaches you almost nothing.
Primal is the way of selling I built from all of it. People decide in the gut and justify it with logic afterward. So you don't push, and you don't dig into anyone's pain. You start with where they want to go, and you have an honest conversation about getting there.
I'm not going to hand you my script. The only person a script really works for is the person who wrote it. I'm going to teach you the system, and help you say it your way, about your product, to your buyers.
It started at my grandfather's shoe store in New Jersey. Herb never pitched anyone. He cared, he connected, and people felt safe buying from him. That's still the whole idea.
Plus what a one-person sales team needs: your pipeline with the next move on every deal, WinBack to bring back the leads that went quiet, and which lead sources actually close.
You have a sales team? This isn't the plan for you. The main platform is.
You want AI to make your calls for you? Not this either. You make the calls.
And if you'd rather keep doing it the way you're doing it, that's a real answer.
A short call with me. Tell me what you sell and where your calls go sideways. If Primal is the right fit, I'll show you how it would work for you. If it isn't, I'll tell you.
The first time Primal scored one of my own calls, I walked off thinking it went great.
It felt great. It was a 57.
So I don't think you're bad at sales. I think nobody ever showed you what your calls actually look like.
